Advances in Natural Product-Based Anticancer Agents: Bridging the Gap Between Traditional Medicine and Modern Drug Discovery Through Semi-Synthesis

Author(s): Manish Mahajan

Abstract: Plants are a valuable source for medicine creation since they have less adverse effects, which have greatly increased their manufacturing. This approach is insufficient for drug discovery, though. For medical purposes, researchers must therefore use artificial substances and adhere to the semi-synthetic approach. Novel compounds are provided by biodiversity, which also improves medication design and development for new therapeutic treatments. The pharmaceutical industry has made significant strides in leading drug discovery. The literature review of bioactive chemicals and structure determination, which play a major role in medication development, will offer the data on drug approval from 1981 to 2019. The review provides an overview of the compounds' roles in cancer therapy development.
