Author(s): Chirag Shah and Bhavita Malvi
Abstract: This study aims to assess the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress in the geriatric population residing in Vadodara city and its surrounding urban areas, using the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-42 (DASS-42). The cross-sectional survey involved 412 elderly participants, analysing the severity of these psychological conditions and their associated demographic factors. The findings reveal that a significant percentage of the elderly suffer from mental health issues, predominantly in mild to moderate stages, with females exhibiting higher susceptibility than males. These results underline the importance of routine mental health screening and tailored interventions to improve the quality of life among the elderly.
