Abstract: Food safety is a critical component of public health, particularly in the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) program, which provides nutritional support to vulnerable populations in India. This study aimed to assess food safety awareness among ICDS workers using a cross-sectional mixed-methods approach, combining digital surveys and thematic analysis. Data were collected from ICDS workers across diverse regions, focusing on their knowledge of food safety protocols, contamination prevention, training frequency, and guideline implementation. The results revealed that while 78% of workers were aware of basic food safety protocols, only 65% demonstrated adequate knowledge of contamination prevention, and training frequency awareness was the lowest at 52%. A statistically significant correlation was observed between regular training and improved food safety awareness. The thematic analysis identified barriers such as resource limitations and insufficient training. The findings highlight the critical need for targeted interventions, regular capacity-building programs, and systemic reforms to enhance food safety practices. Integrating a pharmaceutical framework provided deeper insights into contamination prevention and public health implications. Strengthening food safety awareness among ICDS workers is essential to improving health outcomes for children and pregnant women, contributing to the long-term success of community nutrition programs.
